Conference vision - Expected outcome

The International Conference on Regional Climate - CORDEX 2013 conference will facilitate cross-cooperation across the diverse regional research communities within WCRP (across the many regional CORDEX initiatives and the WCRP core projects’ regional activities under CLIVAR, GEWEX, SPARC and CliC) as well as with other international regional research programs and partners. Such an active dialogue and discussion among international research communities is required to address the many challenges of regional climate science.

The conference is expected to:

• Provide an insight into current strength and weaknesses of current regional climate downscaling and observing systems and their associated uncertainties
• Improve the dialogue and coherence between the various CORDEX and regional climate worldwide initiatives
• Enhance the relevance and exploitation of regional climate information for end-user application
• Make a tangible contribution to the research agenda of the UN Global Framework for Climate Services
• Provide research recommendations for future IPCC assessment reports

Participants will gain new perspectives and views on current research topics from the leading scientists around the world, contribute their own ideas on important research topics, as well as to network and collaborate with their international counterparts.
