Public transports in Sydney

Rail

The railway network spreads from Bondi Junction in the east to the Blue Mountains in the west. Services depart at least every 30 mins to most areas and inner city trains depart every few minutes.

Monorail

Sydney Monorail operates every day of the year from early until late. The Monorail runs every 3 to 5 minutes linking the City with Darling Harbour providing easy access to many of Sydney's tourist attractions. There are monorail stops at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Haymarket, World Square, Park Plaza, City Centre and Darling Park. The standard fare is $2.50 and all day tickets are available for $6.

Light Rail

Light Rail Sydney operates 24 hours a day every day of the year. Trams run 10 to 15 minutes apart. Services run from Sydney Central to Wentworth Park. Fares are between $2 and $3 each way. For more information about the route the Light Rail service takes, have look at the Metro Rail Route Map.

Buses

There are bus routes to everywhere, however, frequency varies and some services only operate in peak times. State Transit also operates a sightseeing tour throughout the city called the Sydney Explorer. Normal bus fares are based on distance and range from $1.20 to $4.60.
